Fees

DOCUMENT RECORDING

State law requires the Clerk of Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans to preserve forever the property records and other contracts filed into public record in Orleans Parish and to make the records available to the public.

Documents are recorded in the Land Records Division of the Clerk's Office, located at 1340 Poydras Street, 4th Floor. The office is open to record documents from Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.


RECORDING FEES

Recording fees for documents are per page unless marked with an asterisk which denotes a flat, per document fee. The following fees are payable at the time of recording:

Checks for recording fees and copies are made payable to: Clerk of Civil District Court

MARGIN REQUIREMENTS

Records are maintained in bound volumes; therefore page margins must be wide enough for binding and recordation purposes. The first sheet must have at least a 2 inch margin at the top, and all sheets must have at least a 1 inch margin at the bottom and on both sides. Documents without the required margins will either be rejected or subject to a surcharge of $20.00 per act.

CERTIFICATIONS

Documents recorded in the Land Records Division of the Clerk's Office can be certified for the cost of $30.00 per document, in addition to the cost of copies, per page.
